VENETA Enterprise whitepaper · October 2026 · v1.0

Beyond the limits of local LLMs.

Why the language models you run inside your own network fall short, and what changes when you put a memory and self-improvement layer around the model instead of replacing it. Measured on eight open models, 12B to 70B, inside one network.

Cover of the VENETA whitepaper, Beyond the limits of local LLMs

What is inside

Every number in it was measured.

1

Five limits

What a local LLM cannot do alone: know the present state, remember, refrain from inventing, check itself, learn under governance. Why a bigger model does not fix them.

2

The layer

The six steps that answer an operational question, the four kinds of governed memory, and how checks written in code bind the critic model.

3

What we measured

Eight open models on one desktop machine: the memory layer on and off, the judgment layer before and after, learned rules applied, and a head-to-head with an open-source memory layer.

4

Industry by industry

Telecom, energy, semiconductor, retail, manufacturing, defense: the questions, what the model alone gets wrong, what changes. Plus customer chatbots and internal AI work systems.

5

Security and governance

Seven probes on the memory as an attack surface: injection at write, secrets, per-user isolation, deletion proof, tamper evidence, rejected lessons, telemetry defaults.

7

What we do not claim

Synthetic data, one edition, a small experiment, a real latency cost, a person who must approve. The limits are written down before the paper is peer reviewed.

VENETA Enterprise

The layer in this paper, for the models you already run.

VENETA Enterprise puts the memory and self-improvement layer in front of the LLMs, agents, and chatbots you already run, through an OpenAI-compatible interface. The approval console, ledger, roles, and undo are on by default, with the enterprise features on top: multi-tenancy, role-based access control, and single sign-on. project veneta, the open-source layer, does not include those three.
